    DEMOCRACY WATCH, the political research unit of the Institute for Popular Democracy (IPD) is searching for a RESEARCH ASSOCIATE to work with us on a full-time basis in the field of ‘constitutional reform’. Democracy Watch engages in thematic research and policy studies (electoral reform, constitutional reform, among others) and is a member of various civil society advocacy formations.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Develop & operationalize research designs on specified themes & issues
    • Conduct research, documentation & data-gathering
    • Conceptualize & present research findings (including written output)
    • Write articles for publication
    • Represent IPD in advocacy consortiums & engage in advocacy campaigns
    • Contribute to IPD’s political analysis on current political events 

    CORE COMPETENCIES:

    • Broad understanding of Philippine political landscape and players
    • Conceptual & analytical thinking
    • Excellent writing & presentation skills
    • Process-oriented & able to work in a team 

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor or graduate degree in political science, development studies, sociology, anthropology, journalism or any related field
    • Experience in policy research and advocacy
    • Experience in networking with NGOs, POs and government agencies
