DEMOCRACY WATCH, the political research unit of the Institute for Popular Democracy (IPD) is searching for a RESEARCH ASSOCIATE to work with us on a full-time basis in the field of ‘constitutional reform’. Democracy Watch engages in thematic research and policy studies (electoral reform, constitutional reform, among others) and is a member of various civil society advocacy formations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop & operationalize research designs on specified themes & issues
- Conduct research, documentation & data-gathering
- Conceptualize & present research findings (including written output)
- Write articles for publication
- Represent IPD in advocacy consortiums & engage in advocacy campaigns
- Contribute to IPD’s political analysis on current political events
CORE COMPETENCIES:
- Broad understanding of Philippine political landscape and players
- Conceptual & analytical thinking
- Excellent writing & presentation skills
- Process-oriented & able to work in a team
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor or graduate degree in political science, development studies, sociology, anthropology, journalism or any related field
- Experience in policy research and advocacy
- Experience in networking with NGOs, POs and government agencies
