There are a lot of forms of government that is being exercised in the different parts of the world today, each of them having positive and negative effects on the people living in that particular country. It is quite important for you to be familiarize with these forms of government so that you’d be able to know and understand more how each country is. Dictatorship. In dictatorship, there is only one leader who rules the country. Usually, he’s was able to take the highest seat in the government without being elected by the people. A dictator most often times use force to keep his control over almost anything about the country where he is. Aside from that, public opinion and individual rights are not allowed to be exercised in a dictatorial form of government.
Totalitarian. China is perhaps the best example of a country that has a totalitarian form of government. In this government, only a single political party rules and people are forced to comply to whatever the government tells them to do. Also, people who are under a totalitarian government may be prevented from leaving the country and being caught attempting to do that may result in imprisonment or death.
Theocracy. Countries like Iran have a theocratic form of government. In a theocracy, the rulers claim to be ruling to represent a set of religious beliefs or even as direct appointment from God or a divine being.
Monarchy. This form of government has a king or a queen who stands as the ruler over a country and could sometimes hold absolute power. In countries like Jordan, this form of government is being used where power is usually passed along through the family bloodline.
Parliamentary. In a parliamentary form of government such as that of Israel, the system is usually by representatives of the people. Each leader is chosen to be a member of a political party and would remain to be in power as long as his or party does.
Republic. In a republic or a democratic form of government, the leader is chosen by the people who voted for him to be in the position and they are to serve only for a period of time. A good example of a republic government would that be of the United States of America.
Anarchy. In anarchy, there is basically no government at all. This usually happens when a civil war occurred in the country or when rival groups are fighting to take the place of the previous government.
